This is a Camper! A great user friendly, family, sporting, relaxing purpose. It is at home on lakes and rivers, with about 1.5 inches of rocker from front to back. This kind of curve allows the boat to be steered easily, as well as still track pretty well for lakes. This boat responds to j pry, j stroke, and trailing rudder with your paddle between strokes. Look smooth, handle her easy. The sides are about an inch shallower than the Charles River, (A great alternate choice), so is not recommended for big water with large waves.

The Camper is 16 foot long and 900 pound capacity, weighing in at a mere 59 pounds! This canoe has an ash carrying yoke and thwart and matching light colored ash framed seats. For the family, the camper may just be the best all around canoe available. Engineered for the kind of performance that allows the entire family to feel at ease, the Camper is a general purpose canoe that is equally at home on ponds, lakes, and rivers. Surprisingly fast for a 16 foot canoe, the Camper's on the water stability is also a plus when canoeing with young family members. This is one of the few boats that have the classic rounded bow and stern ends, for an attractive and highly desirable classic rounded "Indian craftsmanship" looking profile. These boats are not priced to be inexpensive, rather a high end quality boat still retaining the usable and durable fun purpose!

This boat is made from Royalex, a beautifully finished inside and out eight layer material that has been made in flat sheets under a tightly controlled manufacturing process by Royalex, holding a tight tolerance thickness and lay-up. The sheet consists of inner and outer layers of vinyl resisting cutting, then multi-layer ABS on the inside and outside, and a core of foam for flotation, rigidity, insulation, and reduced weight.  The sheet is then heated in what looks like a giant pizza oven, then pulled out and draped over a "rounded table" to be pulled up into a cold vacuum mold to be perfectly formed to the boat hull specifications. Royalex built canoes have two quality control points. One quality control point is when the material is made, and the second time is when the boat is made.  The Royalex sandwich construction canoe material means a far lighter weight than any other boat in its class at 58 pounds for a 16 foot boat!
